Meta ads campaign tracking by name, not ID numbers

Coming soon: Meta ads campaign tracking that will put the name of the Meta campaign, ad set and ad beside every Facebook and Instagram lead, so a rep can see which ad brought an enquiry in. It isn't available yet. Today, Meta Lead Ads already keep the IDs of the ad behind each lead.

  • Coming soon, not available yet
  • Planned: campaign, ad set and ad names
  • Meta Lead Ads work today
A preview of a planned feature, not available yet. A new Facebook lead for Priya Sharma arrives with its ad ID numbers, as it does today; in the planned version the campaign ID then shows as Diwali kitchen offer, the ad set and ad IDs show as Mumbai homeowners and Kitchen carousel, and a paused ad set is marked paused.

What Meta Ads is planned to bring to each lead

  • MetaFacebook and Instagram ads
  • Ad accountPlanned: its name
  • CampaignPlanned: its name and status
  • Ad setPlanned: its name and status
  • AdPlanned: its name and status
  • LeadWhere the names are planned to sit
THE PROBLEM

Why ad IDs aren't enough

See how it's fixed
  1. A lead that says it came from ad 23851094

A Meta lead can carry the IDs of the ad and ad set it came from, but a long number means nothing to the rep making the call. They can't tell the festive offer from the brand ad without opening Ads Manager.

  2. Two tools open to answer one question

When a sales manager asks which ad the best leads came from, someone copies IDs out of the CRM and looks each one up in Ads Manager by hand. It takes long enough that the question usually goes unanswered.

  3. Paused ads nobody noticed

Leads from an ad set someone paused last week still sit in the list, and the team keeps following a script for an offer that has already ended, because nothing on the lead says the ad is no longer running.

PLANNED

The campaign, ad set and ad, by name, on the lead

The plan is simple: when a Facebook or Instagram lead comes in, DigiPix Flow will look up the names of the campaign, ad set and ad it came from and keep them beside the lead. A rep opening the lead will read Diwali kitchen offer rather than a string of digits, and know what the buyer was shown.

  • Planned: the campaign name beside each Meta lead
  • Planned: the ad set and ad names as well
  • Coming soon, and not available yet
  • The IDs are already kept on Meta leads today

PLANNED

One Meta connection for lead ads and ads

You won't need a second login. The plan is for Meta Ads to use the same Meta connection as Meta Lead Ads, asking once for permission to read your ad accounts. The access will be read-only: DigiPix Flow will read names and whether each ad is running, and will never create, change or stop an ad.

  • Planned to use your Meta Lead Ads connection
  • Read-only access to your ad accounts
  • Nothing in Ads Manager will be changed
  • Disconnecting will stop the reading at once

PLANNED

Whether the ad is still running, at a glance

Alongside each name, the plan is to keep whether the campaign, ad set and ad are active or paused. A rep calling a lead from an ad that was switched off yesterday will see that before they mention an offer that may have ended, and a manager tidying the list will know which leads came from ads still running.

  • Planned: active or paused for each level
  • Checked again as your ads change
  • No figures from your ads account, only names and status
  • Ads Manager stays the place to run your ads

Meta Ads questions, answered

Can I connect Meta Ads today?

Not yet. Meta Ads is coming soon and isn't available to workspaces. Meta Lead Ads work today, and every Facebook and Instagram lead already keeps the IDs of the ad, ad set and form it came from.

What is Meta ads campaign tracking?

It means knowing which Meta campaign, ad set and ad each lead came from. Today, Meta Lead Ads keep the IDs of the ad, ad set and form on every Facebook and Instagram lead. The planned Meta Ads connection will add the names beside those IDs; it is coming soon and not available yet.

What will Meta Ads add?

The plan is to put the names of the campaign, ad set and ad beside each Meta lead, along with whether each one is active or paused, so reps can read which ad brought a lead in without looking up an ID.

Will it show how much our ads cost?

No. The planned connection reads names and whether each ad is running, and nothing else. Figures from your ads account stay in Ads Manager.

Will DigiPix Flow be able to change our ads?

No. The planned access is read-only. DigiPix Flow will never create, edit, pause or delete a campaign, ad set or ad.

Will I need to connect Meta again?

The plan is to use the same Meta connection as Meta Lead Ads, asking once more for permission to read your ad accounts, rather than setting up a separate login.

When will it be ready?
