WhatsApp link generator for click-to-chat wa.me links
This free WhatsApp link generator turns your number and an optional opening message into a wa.me link that opens a chat with you in one tap, without the customer saving your number first. Type the number the way you would normally write it, with spaces, a leading 0 or +91 already on it, and the generator writes it in the international form WhatsApp expects. It works in your browser and keeps nothing: your number and message are not stored or sent anywhere.
Free, with no sign-up. It runs in your browser: nothing you type is sent or stored.
The number that has WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business on it.
The customer sees this typed in, ready to send. They can change it first.
Enter your WhatsApp number to build the link.
How to use it
Step 1
Choose the country code
Pick the dial code for the number, such as +91 for India.
Step 2
Type the WhatsApp number
Enter it as you usually write it, for example 98765 43210 or 098765 43210. An Indian mobile number must be ten digits starting with 6, 7, 8 or 9.
Step 3
Write an opening message
Optional. This is the text waiting in the chat box when the chat opens, such as "Hi, I'd like a quote for a 2BHK interior". The customer can change it before sending.
Step 4
Copy the link and test it
Open it on your own phone to check the right chat appears, then add it to your website, Instagram bio, emails or ads.
How a wa.me link works
A click-to-chat link is a web address on WhatsApp's own wa.me domain. It holds two things: your number in international form, digits only, and, if you add one, the opening message after ?text=. For the example number +91 98765 43210 and the message "Hi, I saw your Diwali offer", the link is https://wa.me/919876543210?text=Hi%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20Diwali%20offer.
On a phone the link opens WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business with a chat to your number and the message already typed. On a computer it offers WhatsApp Web or the desktop app. Nothing is sent until the customer presses send, and the number must have a WhatsApp account for the chat to open.
Why the number has to be written a particular way
WhatsApp only recognises a number written as country code followed by the number, with no plus sign, spaces, brackets or the 0 many people dial before an Indian mobile. Hand-typed links often go wrong on exactly this: put 09876543210 or +91-98765-43210 into a link and the customer is told the number is invalid instead of seeing a chat.
The generator strips everything except the digits, removes a leading 0 or a repeated country code, and checks the length. For +91 it accepts ten-digit mobile numbers starting with 6 to 9, the form every Indian mobile number takes. For other countries it checks that the full number, country code included, is between 8 and 15 digits, the international limit.
Writing an opening message people will send
The opening message does two jobs. It saves the customer wondering what to type, and it tells your team where the chat came from. "Hi, I'm interested in the 3-day Goa package" is more useful to whoever answers than "Hi", because they can reply with the right details from the first message.
Make a separate link for each place you use it, with a message that names the place: one for the website's contact page, one for the Instagram bio, one for a Meta ad. Keep each message short, in the customer's own voice and easy to edit. Because the customer can change it, treat the message as a strong hint about the source rather than proof.
Where to put your link
Anywhere someone might rather talk to you than fill in a form: the contact page and footer of your website, a chat button in the corner of each page, your Instagram and Facebook profiles, email signatures, SMS messages, YouTube video descriptions and the product pages of an online catalogue. For anything printed, turn the same link into a QR code so people can scan rather than type.
A wa.me link goes straight to WhatsApp and never passes through your website, so UTM tags added to it are not read by your analytics. Tell placements apart with the opening message instead.
When a link is only the start
A link starts a conversation; it does not answer it. If several people share the replies, or chats arrive outside office hours, decide who picks them up and how quickly, and make sure the history isn't kept only on one person's phone. Chats from your link reach whichever WhatsApp account holds the number, whether that is the WhatsApp Business app on a single handset or a WhatsApp Business Platform number connected to software your whole team can open.
Answer every chat from one shared record
Connect your WhatsApp Business Platform number to DigiPix Flow and conversations land in the shared inbox beside email and SMS. When the number belongs to a lead or contact already in your CRM, the chat sits on that record, so whoever follows up sees the whole history.

Is this WhatsApp link generator free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many links you make. The links use WhatsApp's own click-to-chat format, so they keep working without this page.
Does the customer need to save my number first?
No. That is the point of a wa.me link: tapping it opens a chat with your number directly, whether or not it is in their contacts.
Can I make a link without a pre-filled message?
Yes. Leave the message box empty and the link opens a blank chat with your number. A message is optional, but it helps you see where each chat came from.
Will the link work for a WhatsApp Business number?
Yes. wa.me links work for numbers on the WhatsApp app, the WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business Platform alike, as long as the number has a WhatsApp account.
Why is my Indian number rejected?
For +91 the generator accepts ten-digit mobile numbers starting with 6, 7, 8 or 9, after removing spaces, a leading 0 and the country code. If your business WhatsApp is registered on a landline, write that link by hand: wa.me/ followed by 91, the STD code without its 0, and the number.
Is my number stored anywhere?
No. The link is built in your browser. We don't see, keep or send the number or the message you type.
What happens to my links if I change numbers?
A wa.me link holds the number itself, so old links keep opening chats with the old number. Make new links for the new number and replace the old ones wherever you posted them.
