What is lead leakage?

Lead leakage is the share of enquiries a business paid for or earned that never get a proper response, whatever the reason they slipped through.

Lead leakage, explained

Lead leakage is the gap between the enquiries a business receives and the ones anyone actually works. The leads are rarely lost in a dramatic way. They sit in a Meta Lead Ads download nobody opened, in an IndiaMART inbox checked twice a week, in the WhatsApp of a salesperson who has since left, or in a spreadsheet row with no owner.

The common causes are structural rather than personal. Leads arrive through many channels with no single list. Nobody is assigned until someone remembers. Follow-ups exist only in people's heads. And when a salesperson leaves, their conversations go with their phone. Each cause has the same effect: a buyer who wanted to talk to you ends up talking to someone else.

To measure it, take one month of leads from every source and check how many received a first response, how many got a second touch, and how many simply stopped. The fixes follow the causes: connect every source to one list, give every lead an owner on arrival, schedule the next step on the record rather than in memory, and keep conversations on the company's record instead of personal chats. DigiPix Flow brings leads from its connected sources into one inbox and routes each one to an owner.
